In the forums I found a post saying that there was a second partition in the iso file and was able to boot the usb installer via uefi after extracted the efi img partition from the iso and put efi folder on the usb installer. I had created a usb installer using Rufus but it would not boot via uefi. I had some initial problems with the installer. I decided to put 2016.2 on my ssd drive using uefi boot. With Kali 2016.1 圆4 I do not have this problem however I am running it from an an encrypted usb flash drive in legacy mode. I can adjust the brightness in a terminal with the following command xrandr -output eDP-1 -brightness 0.7 Under system details it also shows nothing for Graphics. When I open the display control it shows the message could not get screen information. After installing Kali 2016.2 last night on my laptop the brightness fn keys are not working and neither is the slider.
